Greatworth Hall, a 200 hectare arable farm in Oxfordshire has recently been announced the overall winner of the Bayer Farming and Countryside Education (Face) Awards.

The awards celebrate the very best in farming education. Farmers and other countryside educators are encouraged to enter in one of several categories to explain why they work with young people and how they carry out their inspirational visits or innovative projects. (

Mrs Jefferies, who farms the land with her father, invites children from the Greatworth Primary School to visit the farm throughout the year. Mrs Jefferies is a qualified teacher and would appear to be perfectly placed to educate the primary school children. Some of the fantastic initiatives introduced by Mrs Jefferies include allowing the children to track a tree through the year and even adopt one of the sheep!

I am delighted to hear that this Oxfordshire Farm have been recognised for their efforts in educating the next generation. I hope that this will encourage more local farms to do the same!
